#Showbiz: It means 'unfortunate' – Hael Husaini on the use of word 'celaka' in new song

KUALA LUMPUR: Singer-songwriter Hael Husaini says there's nothing provocative about the word 'celaka' in the lyrics to his new song titled Diam.

Instead, the 36-year-old award-winning artiste said the word used in one of the tracks in his debut album Antonim (Part I), was merely used to mean 'unfortunate', he told reporters at the album release party held at an event space here last night.

"Since I've been doing this (songwriting) for some time now, I know the do's and don'ts.

"So, I'd always do a bit of researching first before I do anything, just to stay away from getting caught in any sensitive issues," he explained.

He added, confusion among listeners may have risen because the word 'celaka', has long been abused by our society today as a form of profanity to express anger or other strong emotions.

However, he extended his apology to anyone who felt that the word is too strong to be included in a song.

Meanwhile, Antonim (Part I) was released on Jan 5 on all digital platforms.

It consists six songs: Diam, Usia, Kejora, Please, Hero, and Sama Seperti Dulu.
