#Showbiz: It's not at all 'tangkap basah' – Ruhainies

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular actress Ruhainies stressed that the recent controversy linking her to Singapore-born actor Aliff Aziz was not due to the issue of 'tangkap basah' or khalwat (close proximity) which has been the talk of the town.

In an IG post, Ruhainies was disappointed to see the various headlines from the local media including one from a portal that read, 'Masih Tiada Penjelasan Lanjut, Ruhainies Perlu Masa Untuk Selesaikan Isu Tangkap Basah' (Still no explanation, Ruhainies needs time to solve the khalwat issue).

According to a news report today, the 32-year-old artiste, whose full name is Nur Ruhainies Farehah Zainul Ilyas, expressed her hope that people will not be issuing any further statements that are confusing and untrue.

"I'd like to correct what's been happening here, be careful with the headlines and content in order not to create any speculation that would worsen the situation and lead to more confusion.

"It is not at all 'tangkap basah'. Up till now, I have yet to release any statement. And everything that has since come out from the media has not been statements from me and they are inaccurate.

"I ask for the media to not write anything that would lead to provocation and fitnah until I come up with an official statement.

"I hope for cooperation from all parties to be more careful and responsible," she said.

On Saturday, media reports of a married Singaporean actor being caught for close proximity (khalwat) with a Malaysian actress at a luxury condominium early in the morning began to surface.

The arrest, carried out by the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) based on public information, occurred at the actress's residence.

It was reported that Alif, 33, had also posted a recent IG entry saying that the whole affair had been blown out of proportion with many false information being added to the actual story.

The two artistes have announced that they would be providing an explanation of the controversy soon.
