#Showbiz: G-Dragon's artwork up for bid with reserve price of RM117,000

KUALA LUMPUR: A floral artwork by popular South Korean singer and Big Bang member G-Dragon is going to be auctioned at the end of this month with the reserve price of KRW30 million (RM117,000)!

According to The Seoul Auction website, the piece by the 35-year-old artiste whose real name is Kwon Ji-yong, titled "Youth Is Flower", will appear at its contemporary art fair on March 29.

The artwork, created with spray paint and markers on a steel panel, was completed in 2017.

It contains G-Dragon's signature motif — a smiling daisy flower.

It is currently on display at the Seoul Auction Gangnam Centre in Gangnam, Seoul.

An avid fine art collector, G-Dragon was even listed on ARTnews' "50 Art Collectors to Watch", the New York-based magazine's list of emerging art collectors, in 2019.

But this is the first time his own creation, and not a collaborative piece or a piece from his collection, is being auctioned.

That, coupled with his stardom, explained the whopping reserve price, said a representative from the auction house.
