#Showbiz: 'Legends' concert to raise funds for needy artistes

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Artistes' Association or Karyawan is embarking on a fund-raising drive to assist artistes facing health and financial challenges.

Its president Datuk Freddie Fernandez said that after making donations to 50 needy artistes last month, they will soon organise a fund-raising dinner to assist needy artistes.

The dinner show and concert titled Legends will be held at Dewan Perdana Felda in Jalan Semarak at 8.30pm on June 2 and will feature legendary singers Datuk Ramli Sarip, Datuk Khadijah Ibrahim, Datuk Awie and Rahimah Rahim.

In a statement yesterday, Fernandez said that all four legends had truly earned their place in Malaysian music history.

"They also have extremely large fan bases, and their presence in the coming concert means we will succeed in raising a significant amount of funds for less fortunate members of Seniman," he said.

The concert will also feature veteran singers Norshila Amin, Ezlynn and Hairie Kool and a live band from the National Arts, Culture and Heritage Academy or Aswara.

Tables are priced from RM2,000 to RM100,000.
