Missing Misha much?

Who can blame Misha Omar for being overly excited about her new solo single, especially when her last such outing was four years ago?

The yet-to-be-titled ballad,
expected to be released after
Hari Raya, will also be the soundtrack of a television drama series.

“It’s been a while and I’ve been longing to give my fans a solo single for some time,” she said when met after the Anugerah MeleTOP ERA 2017 press conference at Zouk, Kuala Lumpur recently.

Before the new solo single comes out, Misha’s duet with Adibah Noor titled Jiwa Sentuh Jiwa will hit the market first.

The Kota Baru-born singer last released her solo singles Angin Syurga and Untuk Bermimpi in 2013.

“It has been a little slow in terms of my singing career with family affairs coming in-between,” admitted the 35-year-old artiste, who is nursing her 7-month-old Muhammad Idris Ezzwa Firros, whom she delivered in August.

“He is attached to me and because of that, I’ve to put my career plans on hold.

Misha whose breakout hit was the 2003 Bunga Bunga Cinta, is nominated for Anugerah MeleTOP 2017’s Group/Duo Meletop award, with Hafiz Suip, her
duet partner for Terimaku Seadanya.

The song, composed by Ajai, took the second spot at TV3’s Anugerah Juara Lagu 31 recently.

Performing a duet with a younger (and talented) singer might have helped her gain a younger group of fans too, she said.

“When I heard about our nomination, I feel elated, grateful and appreciated. Collaborating with Hafiz proved to be a good move for me.”

Misha, however, is not pinning high hopes on winning the trophy since they are up against other star contenders like Malaysia’s No. 1 singer Datuk Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin and award-winning singer-composer Faizal Tahir for their popular hit Dirgahayu.

Others are Akim & The Majistret, Caliph Buskers and Syamsul Yusuf with Mawi.

To be nominated in the same category with some of the country’s crème de la crème is already a big deal for Misha.

“I’m proud to be associated with them in a way,” she said, beaming with pride.

Misha salutes fellow award-winning singer Dayang Nurfaizah for braving the tide to come out with a full studio album in the streaming era.

“Perhaps I might just do that too. But currently, my focus is on ensuring my singles are put out first.”
