Malaysian shuttlers settled for second place in Maybank Malaysia International Youth Under-19 championships

It was not the best of finishes for Malaysia who failed to win a single title at the Maybank Malaysia International Youth Under-19 championships today.

The Malaysian shuttlers who played in four out of the five finals settled for second place in the end.

Boys' singles Yeoh Seng Zoe, who injured his ankle in the semi-final on Saturday withdrew at the last minute, awarding the match to Thailand's Adulrach Namkul.

Girls' singles M.Thinaah, went down 21-15, 22-20 to South Korea's Shim Ye Rim.

Boys' doubles Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, let slip a one game advantage to lose 16-21, 21-17, 21-16 to Indonesia's Yahya Adi Kumara-Yantoni Edy Saputra.

Mixed doubles Goh Sze Fei-Teoh Mei Xing, also failed to capitalise on their one game lead. The Malaysians lost 13-21, 21-14, 21-14 to Indonesia's Yantoni-Mychelle Crhystine Bandaso.

In the all Indonesia girls' doubles final, Tania Oktaviani Kusumah-Vania Arianti Sukoco overcame Cynthia Shara Ayunidha-Rofahadah Supriadi Putri 21-14, 17-21, 21-19.

Meanwhile at the Japan Open, China's Lin Dan claimed his first Super Series of the year following his 21-19, 16-21, 21-19 win over Denmark's Viktor Axelsen.

The China five-time world champion, who looks ready for the Olympics next year will compete at the Korea Open that starts on Tuesday next.
