Red Giants resume chase for second place

KUALA LUMPUR: After almost two months without a competitive match, Selangor are now back to chasing second place in the Super League in the hope of getting a ticket to the Asian stage.

The Red Giants host Perak at the MBPJ Stadium tomorrow, and they can't afford to drop any points in their close fight with Kedah in the standings.

Selangor are now second with 52 points, just two ahead of Kedah with three games remaining.

Coach Tan Cheng Hoe warned his men that Perak, are showing a revival under Yusri Che Lah.

"I think everyone knows that after Yusri took over the team, there has been an improvement there, especially the combination of youngsters and imports that make it tough for other to win.

"I remind our players to be careful when it comes to opponents like this. We need a positive result before facing a tough match against Kedah (Dec 2)."

With Johor Darul Ta'zim expected to win the Malaysia Cup on Dec 8 for a treble, the second Asian Champions League slot will go to the Super League runners-up. And Selangor are eyeing that.
