In men's doubles, BA of Malaysia's Chooi Kah Ming-Ow Yao Han, defeated Philip Joper Escueta-Ronel Estanislao of the Philippines 21-18, 21-16 and are up against eighth seeds Wang Yilv-Zhang Wen of China tomorrow.
Independent duo Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong beat Hong Kong's Chan Tsz Kit-Law Cheuk Him 21-17, 22-20.
Kien Keat-Boon Heong, play qualifiers Thaptimdong Arkornnit-Boonyakom Thumpanichwong of Thailand in the second round.
Hoon Thien How-Lim Khim Wah, had to come back from a game down to see off China's Han Chengkai-Zhou Haodong 15-21, 21-19, 21-18. The former BAM players take on fifth seeds Wahyu Nayaka Arya Pankaryanira-Ade Yusuf of Indonesia next.
Top women's duo, Vivian Hoo Kah Mun-Woon Khe Wei eased passed Indonesia's Keshya Nurvita Hanadia-Devi Tika Permatasari with a 21-13, 21-5 win. The 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games gold medallist play Hong Kong's Chan Kaka Tsz Ka-Yuen Sin Ying in the second round.
The other two pairs who will play in the second round are Singapore Sea Games champions Amelia Alicia Anscelly-Soong Fie Cho and Lim Yin Loo-Lee Meng Yeang.
Amelia-Fie Cho defeated Thailand's Savitree Amitrapai-Pacharapun Chochuwong 13-21, 21-11, 21-7, while Yin Loo-Meng Yean sent another Thai pair Suchanya Kanchanasaka-Kornkamon Sukklad packing 21-10, 21-6
Malaysia's sole representative in women's singles Tee Jing Yi, beat Thailand's Supanida Katethong 21-13, 21-15 and will play the winner of the match between Japan's Kaori Imabeppu and seventh seed Porntip Buranaprasertsuk of Thailand, for a place in the quarter-finals on Friday.
