OIC strongly condemns Israeli raids

OIC STRONGLY CONDEMNS ISRAELI RAIDS

KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 (Bernama) – The Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the ceaseless Israeli raids of the Gaza strip, which destroyed homes and buildings and claimed the lives of Palestinian civilians.

The OIC stressed that the ongoing Israeli hostilities amd aggression in the occupied Eastern Al-Quds and particularly in the Al Aqsa Mosque were bound to have serious repercussions on the region’s security.

It urged the international community, in particular the United Nations (UN) Security Council, to take the responsibility to end the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.

It made the call in a communique issued after an expanded extraordinary meeting of the organisations’ executive commitee at foreign ministers’ level which was held to discuss the grave situation in the occupied State of Palestine, including Al-Quds Al-Sharif.

The OIC also urged member states to act in favour of an early convening of an emergency open session of the UN Security Council to examine the current Israeli violations.

OIC Ambassadariol Group in Geneva is also requested to assist the convening of an emergency session of the Human Rights Council with a view to setting up a special international task force to investigate Israel’s crimes againts the Palestinian human rights.

The OIC invited member states, OIC institutions, Arab and Islamic funds to provide urgent support for the Palestinian people, particularly in the health sector to confront the serious shortages of resources and medical equipment, resulting from the unjust Israeli blockade.

The Executive Committee comprises the Islamic Summit troika - Egypt, Senegal and Turkey, the Council of Foreign Ministers troika - Saudi Arabia, Guinea and Kuwait and the OIC secretary-general, Iyad Ameen Madani.
