KUALA TERENGGANU: A pasar tani worker, in his 70s, was believed to have burnt to death in a fire at a house in Jalan Cerong Lanjut here today.
The victim who was alone in the house, was only identified as Ah Kang.
State fire services and rescue department operation chief Mohamed Zulkhairul Mohamed Razilah confirmed the incident.
He said firemen received an emergency call at 5.11pm and arrived at the scene three minutes later.
"Fifteen firemen who were deployed to the scene, took about five minutes to control the fire from spreading to other nearby building.
"They found the body after they engulfed the flame," he said adding that cause in the fire was still under the department's investigation.
