CIQ Chaos: Works ministry to take stern action against drivers

JOHOR BARU: The Works Ministry has confirmed that the chaos at the customs, immigration and quarantine complex at the Sultan Iskandar Building here this morning was caused by two factory bus drivers who refused to pay toll at the complex.

In a statement, the ministry said it viewed the case seriously and stern actions based on the provision of the laws will be taken against the two irresponsible drivers.

It said there was no protest by drivers at the CIQ Comple this morning

"The overall toll collection is carried out smoothly without any problems," said the statement.

Meanwhile, MRCB, the concessionaire of the Eastern Dispersal Link (EDL), gave away 1,000 Touch N Go cards with a preloaded value of RM10 at the complex here this morning.

The cards were given out on a first-come-first-serve basis to all early birds entering the complex.

In a statement, the Malaysia Highway Authority (MHA) said MHA, EDL and PLUS (M) Berhad officers were present at the complex this morning to ensure the toll collection is carried out smoothly.
