KTMB cargo train derailed, train service disrupted

KUALA LUMPUR: Thousands of Keretapi Tanah Melayu commuters may have to find alternative transportation to go home after work today.

Repair works on the tracks near Bank Negara where a cargo train carrying cement had derailed will only be fully completed on Sunday.

Train services to KL, Bank Negara, Putra, Sentul and Segambut are not available during this time.

KTMB Corporate Communications Manager Siti Badariah Wan Hanafi said passengers from Sg Gadut to Rawang will have to stop at KL Sentral where shuttle bus service is provided.

“Those from Ipoh using ETS will disembark in Kepong station and they are advised to take the bus to KL. Those travelling from KL Sentral to Ipoh should take shuttle bus to Kepong. From there, the ETS will travel to Ipoh,” she said.

“For Ekspres Langkawi from Haadyai to KL Sentral will stop at Tanjung Malim station. From there, shuttle buses are provided.

From Batu Caves to Port Klang, commuters will stop at Sentul station, while those from Port Klang to Batu Caves will stop in KL Sentral, she said.

‘No one is injured in the derailment,” said Siti Badariah.

The cargo train travelling from Padang Jawa to Chemor had derailed at 3.11near Bank Negara station.
