MH17: Remains of victims arrive in Ipoh, Taiping

IPOH: The Hercules C130 aircraft carrying the remains of Malaysia Airlines stewardess Chong Yee Pheng and passenger Noor Rahimmah Mohd Nor, touched down at the Sultan Azlan Shah Airport at 12.12pm.

The two coffins were brought down from the aircraft and taken by pallbearers to two waiting hearse.

Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin MuizzuddinShah led hundreds of Perakians to pay their last respects to the two MH17 victims. He also extended his condolences to the family members.

Also present was Raja DiHilir Raja Datuk Seri Iskandar Dzulkarnain.

Others present were Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir and his line up of state executive council members.

Several next of kin were also seen among the crowd.

Earlier, politicians from both sides of the divide gathered at the lobby of the airport to observe a minute of silence In respect of all 20 victims.

The hearse later made its way to Chong's family home in First Garden and Noor Rahimmah's family home in Tambun.

Meanwhile, the helicopter carrying the remains of MAS chief stewardess Azrina Yakob touched down at the Tekah Airport in Taiping almost the same time.

Present to pay his last respects was Raja Muda of Perak Raja Datuk Seri Jaafar Raja Muda Musa.

Azrina's remains was later taken to her husband's family home in Assam Kumbang.

Both Noor Rahimmah and Azrina will be buried later today while Chong, on Sunday.
