KUALA LUMPUR: Come Tuesday, the Dutch Safety Board will issue a preliminary report on the investigations into the crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17.
The board said the preliminary report would be available at its website, www.safetyboard.nl at 10am local time Amsterdam.
“The preliminary report will present factual information based on the sources available to the Dutch Safety Board.
“In the months to come, further investigation is needed before the final report can be written.
“The Dutch Safety Board expects to publish the final report within a year after the crash,” the board said in a statement at its website today.
Yesterday, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai had said the investigation committee based in the Netherlands would table a preliminary report this month on the Flight MH17 tragedy.
He said it was important to provide a guide for a more detailed investigation to determine the cause of the tragedy which claimed the lives of all 298 passengers and crew on board the ill-fated plane.
“There will only be one report, that is from the investigation committee which we (Malaysia) are part of...no other reports will be issued, not from Malaysia or any other country that is involved,” he added.
Flight MH17 crashed in eastern Ukraine on July 17 as it was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.
The Boeing 777-200 aircraft was believed to have been shot down over the troubled country.
Besides Malaysians, nationals from the Netherlands, Australia, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, the Philippines, Canada and New Zealand were among those on board.
