Police investigate 'Dubai Move' conspiracy: 77 reports filed nationwide

SHAH ALAM: Police have disclosed receiving a total of 77 police reports from across the nation concerning the 'Dubai Move', an alleged plot to topple the unity government.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigations Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said out of the 77 reports, 44 were filed by the public while the rest were lodged by individuals associated with political parties.

"Police are carrying out investigations into these reports according to the provision of the laws.

"The investigation is currently under Section 124C of the Penal Code, which is related to attempts to undermine parliamentary democracy, as well as Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act and Section 505(B) of the Penal Code," he said.

Notably, the count of 77 police reports does not include one lodged by an aide of Perikatan Nasional leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin at Dang Wangi police headquarters this morning.

Yesterday, Inspector-General of police Tan Sri Razarudin Hussain was quoted saying that police have initiated an investigation on earlier reports about videos being circulated suggesting a change of government.

He said this was based on videos by certain individuals supporting the opposition bloc, including from blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin.

He said the matter had raised public concern and could potentially cause disruption to peace and harmony.
