Driver hurt in crash

MALACCA: A 60-year-old lorry driver was injured when the brakes on his stone- and dust-laden vehicle were said to have failed as he came to a traffic-light junction, causing it to crash into five vehicles yesterday.

Thye Ah Fat of Gading, Durian Tunggal, here, broke his right leg in the crash that involved another three cars and two lorries at the Cheng Height traffic-light junction along the Alor Gajah-Melaka Tengah-Jasin (AMJ) Expressway at 10am.

None of the drivers or occupants of the other vehicles were injured in the incident.

Thye was travelling from Taman Asean to Bukit Katil when the incident occurred, said state
traffic enforcement staff officer Superintendent Mohd Sham Abdullah.

Thye is warded at Malacca Hospital.
