KLANG: Pas Selangor deputy commissioner I Sallehen Mukhyi today said DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng's statement accusing the four Pas excos of betraying democracy was ignorant and selfish.
He stressed that the four Pas excos had been the last fortress in maintaining the Pakatan Rakyat government because had they resigned, former Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim may very well have appointed Umno assemblyman to replace them as excos.
"Lim Guan Eng himself does not understand the Selangor Constitution. The state government can function with four excos.
"If we four Pas excos had resigned, Khalid would have been free to choose new excos and it would most certainly be from Umno then," he told reporters at the Alam Shah palace after attending the swearing in ceremony of Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman Azmin Ali as Selangor Menteri Besar.
He added that the proposal to nominate PKR president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail for the Selangor Menteri Besar position was not a consensus so the issue that Pas had betrayed the solidarity of Pakatan Rakyat did not arise.
Earlier, Lim said the four Pas excos had betrayed the solidarity and democracy and failed to stand loyally with the sacked three PKR and three DAP excos.
