GEORGE TOWN: THE Chicken Rice Shop Group has hatched yet another delectable experience for diners to “Relish”.
Located on level two of Gurney Paragon, the new restaurant faces the sea and overlooks the fountain at Festive Square.
Relish is the latest addition to the group’s chain of restaurants such as The Chicken Rice Shop, Sweet Chat and Dubu Dubu.
Relish branch manager Kwan Lynn-ee said the company decided to open the restaurant in Gurney Paragon because of the high volume of visitors.
“The menu offers a mix of authentic dishes so diners can have variety,” she said.
The mix includes Relish’s signature ulam, durian pancake, traditional yam cake, Penang rojak, and barbecue chicken with grilled cheese toast.
Also available are Nyonya nasi ulam with ayam percik, nasi lemak with rendang ayam kunyit, spicy Nyonya laksa, Nyonya fried rice with chicken satay, curry laksa, smoked beef pasta and chicken satay burger.
The curry laksa has been given a twist with Shanghai noodles used in place of the usual noodles
Kwan said Relish was the place to go to for a blend of the old and the new.
Group marketing communications manager June Song said Relish had built a reputation as the place for authentic Malaysian fare at reasonable prices in the short time since it opened on Aug 29.
“We will make changes to the menu from time to time so that our customers will always have something new and exciting to try when they come with their family and friends,” she added.
The decor mixes contemporary furniture and finishings with vintage wall displays and antiques.
The lunch special is available on weekdays from 11am to 3pm. Selections include Nyonya nasi ulam with ayam percik, Hainanese chicken rice and claypot chicken rice and others.
Afternoon tea is served daily from 3pm to 6pm. The spread features nasi kunyit with curry, yam cake, chicken toast, Penang rojak, ice shooters and durian pancake with coffee or tea.
Local desserts include durian cendol, bubur cha cha, mango mountain, pulut hitam with tong yuen and others.
Relish’s other signature dish, Nyonya laksa, is on promotion. Order a bowl for RM15.90 and enjoy the second at half price.
