Samba power for Penang

PENANG will recruit three Brazilian players and a Brazilian manager-coach for next season.

This is to bolster the Premier League side’s chances of qualifying for the Super League.

Penang Football Association (PFA) president Datuk Nazir Ariff Mushir Ariff said yesterday they would also recruit 10 new local players, seven from the Super League and three from the Premier League.

“We will announce the names of the foreign players and manager-coach in December.

“We are retaining the services of South Korean striker Lee Gil-Hoon, who netted 16 goals for us this season,” he said.

The Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) will be giving a RM4 million grant to PFA for the coming season.

“I hope the players will be more confident with this financial backing,” Nazir said.
