Four suspects arrested after RM2mil missing

SHAH ALAM: Selangor police arrested three security personnel and a driver of a security services company after more than RM2 million in cash they carried in the company's van were allegedly stolen in a midnight robbery at Serdang on Sunday.

The suspects, aged between 20-30 years old, claimed that the van carrying the money was stolen when the three security personnel stopped by for dinner, leaving the driver alone in the van.

It was said that when they walked back to the van, it was gone.

A police report was lodged and the van was found a few kilometres away from the restaurant half an hour after it was reported missing.

The driver was found with his hands and feet bound at the back of the van with the money gone.

However, a pump gun, the one weapon that the personnel were allowed to carry was left untouched in the van.

Selangor police chief Datuk Abdul Samah Mat said the police arrested the individuals after finding elements of inconsistency and suspicion in their statement.

"The suspects were clearly not following the standard procedure in accordance to their company's policy so we need to look deeper into that.

"The driver, despite he was bound, was not hurt. We are still in the midst of investigation and have sent him for checks in the hospital to know whether any injury was inflicted upon him.

"According to the suspect, the robbers were two males with pistols. We are still verifying that claim at this point.

"We are investigating the case under section 395 and 397," he said.
