KEPALA BATAS: A three-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries today after she was run down by a vehicle near a kindergarten in a suspected hit-and-run accident.
The toddler has been identified as Nur Balqis Mohd Rozi.
The 1pm accident happened at a Community Development Department (Kemas) kindergarten (Tabika) in Kampung Besar, Tasek Gelugor near here.
The victim was rushed to the Hospital Kepala Batas for medical treatment.
A police spokesman said the case had been classified as reckless driving under Section 41 (1) of Road Transport Act 1987
"We received a call from the hospital about 2pm that the victim died in the emergency ward from the accident,
"The investigating officer has gone to the scene to get eyewitness' account," he said.
The body had been sent for a post mortem.
As of press time, the police has yet to identify the vehicle's driver.
