Dentist found dead in drain

IPOH: The body of a dentist was found yesterday morning just 20m from his house in Taman Canning here.

The body of Dr P. Nanthakumaran, 67, was found by his sister, a retired nurse, when she went out to throw garbage.

According to Ipoh police chief Assistant Commissioner Sum Chang Keong, the victim had left the house on Friday night around 10pm.

The family waited for him but he did not return.

“They tried to locate him but failed. It was this (Saturday) morning when his sister found his umbrella by the drain.

“When family members went out to check, they found his body just 20m away from the house.”

He said the victim had fallen into the drain, adding that there was no criminal element detected.

Sum said the deceased’s money, watch and handphone were found on him.

He said the body was sent for post-mortem and it was concluded that the deceased died due to drowning.
