Man found dead in drain in Kota Baru

KOTA BARU: A man's body was found lying face down in a one-metre-deep drain in Kampung Seribong here this morning.

The body of the unidentified man, fully-clothed, was found by one of the two road maintenance workers when he was cutting grass in the area at 11.30am.

One of the workers, Muhamad Musaha, 35, said he immediately alerted his colleagues when he spotted the body of the man.

"We initially thought the man had only fainted. However, after a while, he remained motionless, which prompted us to alert the authorities.

"The body had no shoes. Both of his legs and arms were yellowish and shrunken although there was no water in the drain," Muhamad said when met the scene.

After the discovery of the body, Muhamad said he and the rest of his colleagues could not continue working as they were still in shock by the image of the victim's condition.

Meanwhile, Kota Baru district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rosdi Daud confirmed receiving a report regarding the discovery of the body.

He said the body was taken to Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HTPZ II) here for post-mortem to determine the identity of the victim.
