Fun day for golfers

THE recent Audi Quattro Cup Malaysia Final 2014 ended in a thrilling finale at Glenmarie Golf and Country Club, with Audi owners Ben Lim Choon Shyang and Chew Hew Hong clinching victory with 42 Stableford points over the brotherly pairing of Kenneth & Jeremy Lim .

Out of the 60 teams who competed at the Malaysia Final, the results came through with a concerted effort from the partnership of Choon Shyang-Hew Hong. It turned out to be rewarding for both players as they walked away with the Champions Trophy and the chance to represent Malaysia on the world stage in Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai, from Dec 7 to 11.

Not to be outdone, Alston Too Yit Rong took home the Taylor-Made Longest Drive with a drive of 228m.

Showing off with his accuracy, Patrick Ho won the Taylor-Made Nearest To Pin with a distance of 3m. On Hole 8, Gary Lee put one down the centre of the fairway, only 40cm from the line, to win the Taylor-Made Nearest To Line.

The Leica Long Shot turned out to be one of the favourites and William Lim made the most of it landing only 239m from the tee to take home the prize.

Aside from the trip to the World Finals, players did not go home empty-handed as there were lucky draws and attractive prizes were handed out by event partners TUMI, Breitling, Emirates and Leica.

The greatest attraction on course was the abundance of opportunities to drive home in a new Audi. All Par 3’s offered golfers a chance for a Hole In One prize of the newly launched Audi A3 Sedan, Audi A4, Audi A6 and the Audi Q3.

The Audi quattro Cup is one of the most popular amateur golf series in the world, with more than one million golfers participating from over 52 participating countries since 1991.

Returning to Malaysia for the fourth year is proof of the event’s continuing success and growing popularity.
