KOTA BARU: An outing by six friends at Jeram Kopek at Padang Pak Amat, Pasir Putih here on Saturday ended in tragedy when one of them slipped and drowned.
It is believed that the victim identified as Mohd Adli Kanafiah , 28, was trying to catch fish at the waterfall when he slipped and fell into the water.
Pasir Putih fire and rescue chief Wan Baijuri Wan Hassan said 13 personnel including five divers from Kota Baru were rushed to the scene after being informed about the drowning by his friends at about 4.58pm.
"His body was found at 7.20pm, more than two hours later, by the divers not far from the scene of the incident," he said.
The body of Mohd Adli, from Kampung Wakaf in Sungai Telong, Pasir Putih was then taken to the Hospital Tengku Anis.
