KUALA LUMPUR: The newly-planned online registration for new party members is an effort to attract the younger generation to be involved with Umno, Puteri chief Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said.
"In conjunction with this year's theme which is hyperconnectivity, I view the online membership registration as the best way to garner interest among the youth to join the party as official members." she said at the Umno General Assembly here today.
The online registration, Mas Ermieyati said, would be implemented as soon as possible.
"The party's president, Datuk Seri (Najib Razak) said that it was time to give way to the young, so I expect the online registration will be welcomed as an upgrade."
Mas Ermieyati said that although the party aimed to focus on the youth, present and future older members would always be appreciated and looked up upon as sources of reference.
