Cops to help tackle bullying

JOHOR BARU: The police will take the bull(y) by its horns to help school authorities tackle bullying among students.

Upon request by schools, the federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman wouldl station auxiliary police personnel in schools to overcome bullying, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (pic).

“We will study the application under existing provision and upon completion, we will approve the requests,” he said when asked if auxiliary personnel would be placed in schools, following incidents of bullying.

On auxiliary police membership, Khalid said he hoped organisations and agencies involved could help raise the number.

“The number of auxiliary police personnel approved is 40,000. So far, 22,093 posts have been filled,” he said after opening the 26th Malaysian Auxiliary Police Conference here yesterday.

Nevertheless, he said, the police understood the constraints faced by those involved in filling the numbers of auxiliary police membership.

On the development to track down 40,000 gangsters in the country, Khalid said it was a continuous effort by the force.

Since the Prevention of Crime Act 1959 (2013 Amendment) was implemented in April last year, 301 criminals had been nabbed. Bernama
