Selangor State Assembly: Audit on severance payments to be tabled next week

SHAH ALAM: The audit report on several severance payments made to former Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim's former aides is expected to be tabled in the state assembly sitting next week after it is approved in the state executive council meeting.

Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali said there were many issues in the audit report that can be debated but the state must follow the proper procedures before it can be tabled.

Hence, he said an exco meeting will be convened tomorrow morning to approve the report before tabling it next week.

"Due to the urging of the assemblymen during the budget debate, we (the state) have agreed to consider to table this in the state assembly," he said in response to a question by Yaakob Sapari (PKR-Kota Anggerik).

Azmin said the audit will reveal that some of the guidelines and contract terms had not been followed.

He added that the state government will not object if the Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat) were to investigate the matter as it was within their jurisdiction to do so.
