Nasi kandar hawker gets death for drug trafficking

ALOR STAR: A 37-year-old nasi kandar hawker ‎was sentenced to death by the High Court here today with trafficking 9kg of ganja in Arau, Perlis last October.

‎Judicial Commissioner Datuk Mohd Zaki Abd Wahab passed down the sentence to Akhbar Ali Abdul Rahman ‎after the prosecution proved a beyond reasonable doubt case against the accused.

Akhbar was charged trafficking 9,401.8gm of ganja ‎at a roadside in Kompleks Tok Arau, Arau about 9pm on Oct 12 last year.

‎He was charged under Section 39B (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries mandatory death penalty.
