Light plane crashes, pilot suffer slight injuries

KOTA BARU: An Air Asia engineer suffered slight injuries when a Piper light plane which he was piloting crashed while landing at the Sultan Ismail Petra airport here today.

In the 9.30am incident, the 37-year old victim, who is also a member of the Kota Baru Flying Club (KBFC) suffered injuries on his hands and legs.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Rohaimi Md Isa said the engineer who has a provisional flying licence was earlier training in the vicinity of the airport.

He said the pilot who was flying solo was landing after training for an hour when the plane went off course and crashed.
