Mother, 3-year-old child, injured in snatch theft incident

SHAH ALAM: A three-year-old girl and her mother were injured during a snatch theft at Jalan Kebun, here yesterday.

Around 11.30am on Tuesday, Putri Sulwati, 27, and her daughter Ashirawati, three, were travelling on a motorcycle along Jalan Kebun when they were robbed.

Shah Alam district deputy police chief Supt Ruslan Abdullah said the thief had caused the two Indonesian victims to fall off from their motorcycle.

"Both mother and daughter sustained injuries to their face, body and hands due to the fall.

"They were admitted to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (HTAR), Klang in the semi-critical unit for treatment," he said when contacted.

He added that a 28-year-old man, who was caught at the crime scene, was detained for further investigation.

Ruslan urged witnesses to come forward to assist police in identifying the suspect's accomplice.

The case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt in committing a robbery.
