KUALA LUMPUR: TWO lucky Tesco-RHB card members were recently crowned as the grand prize winners of the Tesco-RHB Cards Grand Giveaway contest and walked away with a new Perodua Viva S (Auto) each.
The lucky winners, Wong Mei Peng, 44, and Malik Ahmad Zaidi, 57, are both active Tesco-RHB Cards card members and frequently shop at Tesco outlets.
RHB Banking Group retail banking head Charles Sik said the company has been working with Tesco since the launch of the Tesco-RHB cards in January 2009.
“We have renewed our partnership with Tesco to offer a new value proposition that provides greater value for our customers.
“The objective of this contest was mainly to reward our customers whenever they use our Tesco-RHB cards,” he said.
Peng, who is a kindergarten principal, said she did not expect to bring home a new car, just by splurging on groceries.
“I often shop at the Tesco outlet in Klang as it is closest to my home. It was a pleasant surprise to receive a call saying that I am one of the two selected winners for this contest.”
“I’m grateful to Tesco and RHB for rewarding me as it can help my daughter commute easily to class everyday,” said Peng.
Zaidi, a businessman who often shops at Tesco Ampang could not believe his luck in winning the grand prize.
He added that he would allow his son to drive the car.
The contest was held for three months from May 26 to Aug 24 this year. Participation in the contest was automatic for Tesco-RHB card members.
Apart from the grand prize, Tesco vouchers worth RM10,000 were given to the two first prize winners while the second and third prize winners, walked away with vouchers worth RM7,000 and RM5,000, respectively.
