Shah Alam UMNO donate school essentials to students

SHAH ALAM: Some 600 primary school students received school essentials aid from Shah Alam UMNO division at SMK Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, section 2, here earlier this morning.

Selangor Umno liaison chief Datuk Seri Noh Omar who launched the school essential assistance programme said it was Shah Alam UMNO division's second time reaching out in such programme.

"They catered to 400 students when they first organised it last year and 500 students from schools around Shah Alam received the donation this year to help ease the burden of the urban poor community for the upcoming school session this January," he told reporters when met after launching the programme.

A factory worker Samsudin Ahmad who earns below Rm2000 per month thanked UMNO Shah Alam division for the donation given to his two children.

Samsudin who is also a father of three said he would usually spend at least RM150 for his children's school essential for each child every year before new term starts.

"However, I would have to spend more for my older child who is now studying in a secondary school. This assistance means a lot to me as a the sole bread winner of the family.

"I earn less than RM2000 per month and I will have to work over time whenever the needs arise especially when preparing for festive seasons and towards the end of school holidays," said Samsudin.

A clerk and a mother of five, Len Rusli, 34 said it was financially challenging for her and her husband who is a security guard when it comes to school essentials preparation for all their five children and was grateful over the assistance given by Shah Alam UMNO division this year.

Mohd Hazim Mohd Hairi, 10 and his twin brother Mohd Haziq Mohd Hairi, 10 from Sekolah Kebangsaan Seksyen 24 were among the receivers of the school essentials aid program.

"I am so happy that we get new school uniforms, bags and shoes. I cannot wait for school to start so I can use them," said Hazim.
