Infectious diseases aplenty among flood

TUMPAT: Health officers at flood evacuation centres have been busy treating all kinds of diseases among victims.

So far, 625 cases of infectious diseases and 1,029 non-infectious diseases were being treated by officers, on a 24-hour standby.

The most common was acute respiratory disease and illness while diabetes and hypertention were among the non-infectious diseases

Deputy Health Minister Datuk Seri Hilmi Yahya said there are 83 teams conducting routine health checks and provide treatment while another 76 teams were tasked to carry out disease control at centres.

"We have also treated 20 cases of injuries," he said after officiating the state-level Diabetes Day at Pengkalan Kubur this morning.
