Senior citizen nearly 'fried' due to poor Xmas tree wiring

GEORGE TOWN: High humidity and faulty wiring are to blame for the electrocution accident involving an elderly man during his visit to Penang Hill on Wednesday.

Penang Hill Corporation general manager Dr Lawrence Khoo said the man had come into contact with Christmas tree lights that emitted electric currents.

Khoo said the hill's high humidity and wet conditions had acted as a conductor, causing 70-year-old Teoh Kean Huat to be electrocuted when he brushed against a Christmas tree decoration.

Teoh is reported to be stable.
