MH17: Final report on the investigation by this year

DAVOS: The independent committee investigating the shooting down of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 is expected to be ready with its final report by the second half of this year, Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte said.

He said this during a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, on side-lines of the ongoing annual World Economic Forum (WEF).

MH 17, a regular flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur was shot down while flying above the troubled Ukraine on July 17 last year, killing all 282 on board. No party has claimed responsibility for shooting the jetliner down.

Najib said Rutte assured him that the committee will submit the final report to Malaysia before releasing it to the public. Rutte also said that the tragedy has brought the two nations closer.

Najib said the Dutch Prime Minister also discussed with him potential cooperation between the two nations in the oil palm and timber sectors.
