MAS website recovered

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has resolved the issue of their hacked website with its service provider and the system is now recovered.

MAS, in a statement confirmed that its Domain Name System (DNS) has been compromised where users are re-directed to a hacker’s website when the URL, www.malaysiaairlines.com was keyed in.

“At this stage, Malaysia Airlines’ web servers are intact,” it said.

MAS said the airline had immediately reported the matter to the CyberSecurity Malaysia and Transport Ministry.

The national airline assured customers and clients that its website was not hacked and the temporary glitch would not affect their bookings and that user data remained secured.

MAS was the target of hackers today as Internet users were unable to get to the national carrier’s website.

Those going to the website were greeted with the message “404 — Plane Not Found”, a reference to the “Error 404” message and what is believed to be a reference to missing MAS flight MH370.

MAS has launched a temporary page for its customers to book tickets and check-in online.

“You may experience difficulty accessing our website. We are currently working on resolving the issue. To book fares: http://bit.ly/1zLIJ1v”.

“To check-in online, kindly visit http://bit.ly/1twPdIB . We thank you for your patience and kind understanding,” MAS tweeted.
