20-month-old baby flung out of car in crash dies

MALACCA: A toddler was killed when he was flung out of a car which skidded and turned-turtle during an accident at the 201.6km stretch of the north-bound North-South Expressway here yesterday.

Muhammad Anas Nazhan, 20 months, died on the spot in the 5.50pm crash. He sustained head injuries.

Alor Gajah police chief Supt Muhammad Ismail Muhammad Yusuf said the victim’s mother, Norhayati Md Isa, 30, sustained serious injuries while father, Shamsul Azwan Abu Bakar, 29, who was driving the vehicle, had mild injuries.

He said the couple and their son were travelling from Malacca to Kuala Lumpur when the vehicle skidded to the left side of the road and overturned.

“The toddler’s body was sent to the Alor Gajah Hospital while the mother was warded at the Malacca Hospital,” he told Bernama when contacted here today.--BERNAMA
