Dad and 11-month-old baby die in three-vehicle crash in Perak

IPOH: A father and his 11-month-old baby girl were killed in an accident involving three vehicles in Jalan Kuala Kangsar near Klebang Restu here today.

In the 7.20am incident, Muhammad Fakhrul Najmi Roslan, 26, who was driving a Proton Saga, died on the spot.

However, his baby girl, Naura Adleena, was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) here.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan said that police received a report regarding the incident at 7.21am today.

Yahaya said the accident also involved a Mercedes-Benz and a Perodua Alza, driven by a 36-year-old man and a 48-year-old man, respectively.

"Initial investigation showed that the accident was believed to have happened after the Proton Saga exited a junction to cross the road before being hit by a Mercedes, which came from Sungai Siput and was heading towards Ipoh.

"The impact caused the Proton Saga to hit Perodua Alza. The driver of Proton Saga was killed on the spot while his daughter sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at HRPB."

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
