Esszone curfew extended

KOTA KINABALU: The curfew at the Eastern Sabah Safety Zone (Esszone) which ends tomorrow, has been extended to March 14.

State police commissioner Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman said the 7pm to 5am curfew at designated areas in Esszone waters was continued for security reasons.

"The decision made was to ensure safety of those utilising the waters such as fishermen, tourists and also the people of Sabah.

"The extension of the curfew will ease monitoring of vessels movement especially those attempting cross-border crimes as well as to curb activities of human, drugs or weapons trafficking," he said in a statement here.
