4 injured in Sandakan bus crash

SANDAKAN: Four people were injured after an express bus plunged into a ravine in an accident at Km64 of the Sandakan-Telupid Road, today.

Acting District Police Chief Supt Fadzil Mohd Ali said the bus driver, Mohd Zaki Mubri, 30, suffered serious head injury, while three others, a woman and two men, had slight injuries.

He said the three were known as Endryia Mayling, 18, Asdian Masmud, 37, and Marmu Hisyam, 43,.

In the incident at 12.30am, the bus which was carrying 44 passengers, was travelling from Semporna to Kota Kinabalu, he said here today. He added that investigations found that the bus driver had lost control of the bus which skidded and plunged into the ravine.

He said the injured passengers were sent to the Duchess Of Kent Hospital in Sandakan and the case was being investigated under Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.--BERNAMA
