Standstill traffic, flash floods due to heavy downpour

KUALA LUMPUR: Flash floods caused by heavy downpour and thunderstorms brought traffic at certain parts of the Klang Valley to a standstill.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Mohd Sani Harun said the department received a distress call at 6.20pm.

"The monsoon drains at Mydin USJ 1, Subang Jaya, Kilang Gula CSR, Batu 3 Shah Alam and Taman Ang Eng, Jln Kasawari Klang had overflowed and caused flash flood," he said, adding the floods started to subside by 9pm.

Floods at the New Pantai Expressway near the Datuk Harun KTM Komuter station also caused heavy traffic on parts of the nearby Federal Highway.
