SETIU: A baby girl wrapped in a piece of cloth was found abandoned in the Kampung Merang mosque yesterday.
In the 4pm incident, the baby was found by a 38-year-old man with his family who stopped at the mosque to perform zohor prayer.
According to a source, the man had brought the baby to the Penarik police station and lodged a report.
He said the baby was sent to the Setiu Hospital for further check-up and doctors confirmed that the baby was between one and two days old.
District police chief Deputy Superintendent Abdul Rahman Raja Mohammad who confirmed the report said police are investigating the case and are looking for the person responsible of abandoning the baby.
He said those with information should call the nearest police station.
