KUALA LUMPUR: With investigations nearly complete, all relevant parties have been urged not to make any statements regarding the Duke Highway crash to prevent speculations.

Federal traffic police chief Datuk Mohd Fuad Abd Latiff said investigations was nearly 90 per cent complete and police have determined how the accident took place besides identifying a number of individuals who caused the crash.

“It is hoped that relevant parties would not make statements on the accident which could generate negative speculation as well as cause the public to be dissatisfied with the police,” he in a statement on the police’s official Facebook page this morning.

Fuad who was alluding to the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) analysis of the crash site said their involvement in a police investigation was not required as it only conducted research on road safety.

He said he was called to explain the matter after Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Abdul Aziz Kaprawi instructed MIROS to analyse the crash site.

“No party is debating how the accident happened. What is flatly being debated in the social media is the high speed racing activities that led to the fatal accident,” he added.

Abdul Aziz had earlier stated that were many parties asking questions how the accident which claimed the lives of a family of three took place.

Fairuz Nizam Husain, 35, his wife Nova Safitri Azhari, 27 and their 7-month-old child died following a horrific car crash on the highway, last Saturday.
