Second medical relief mission off to Nepal

SEPANG: A team of three doctors including mountaineer T. Ravichandran who is also the president of the Global Expedition Club (GEC) are flying to Nepal today to offer medical assistance to victims of earthquake in remote areas.

Under the "GEC Nepal Medical Relief Mission", the team will be heading to Sindhupalchowk, a district which is close to the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu, believed to be hardest hit region in Nepal.

More than 1,000 lives have been affected; therefore GEC decides to continue with their mission to reach out those from the remote areas.

According to Ravichandran, with recent hit of earthquake he believes that the number of victims will have increased.

He said it is a 10-day mission and to get through the people they will set up a mobile clinic in which it will mobilise their work.

Some of the sponsors for the second relief mission are KK Super Mart, SALAM Shah Alam Specialist Hospital, AB & T Resources Sdn Bhd among others.

"This is the second batch, to Nepal and this time we want to focus to help out victims who lives in villages, located at mountainous terrain of the district. Thousands of homes have been destroyed and many have lost their loved ones," he said at a press conference held at KLIA 2 airport.
