BESUT: A snorkelling trip turned into tragedy for a 21-year-old student from University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, when he drowned at a diving site in Pulau Perhentian, here, this morning.

District police chief Superintendent Khalid Che Lah said Jake Samuel Andrews went snorkelling with six other friends at about 11am.

“He removed his life jacket and entered into difficulties soon after. “His friends immediately saw him struggling for air and brought him to a waiting boat. He was sent to a clinic on the island but was pronounced dead on arrival,” said Khalid.
