KOTA KINABALU: A trainee pilot sustained minor injuries after the helicopter she was flying solo crashed near the runway here around noon.
The 21-year-old trainee was conscious and managed to walk away from the wreckage on her own, according to a source with the aviation industry.
She was sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital 1 here where she was warded at the Intensive Care Unit.
From outside the runway, the Bell 206 helicopter wreckage can be seen on a grassy area near the taxi way.
City police chief assistant commissioner M. Chandra confirmed the crash and that investigation are on going.
