MACHANG: Six people including two children were killed in an accident involving a Perodua Myvi and Proton Saga at Jalan Kota Bharu-Kuala Krai near Kampung Bunut, here, earlier.
It is believed that the incident occurred when the Myvi driver tried to overtake another car, causing him to crash into the on-coming Proton Saga at Km 53 of the Jalan Kota Baru- Kuala Krai stretch.
In the 4.50pm incident, a five-month-old baby and two other passengers were also severely injured and rushed to the Machang and Kuala Krai hospital.
It is learnt four people were in the Myvi and another five were traveling in the Proton Saga.
Kelantan Fire and Rescue Department's public relations officer, Bazri Abdul Rahman said responding to a distress call, four firemen were rushed to the scene.
"Upon reaching, they found that some of the victim had been rushed to the hospital by passerby, however three were trapped and pinned inside the mangled cars," he said, adding that the details of the incident were still sketchy.
Police have yet to release details of the incident, including the identities of the deceased and those injured.
