Johor Umno wants grassroots voices to be heard

KOTA TINGGI: The Johor UMNO wants the voices of the party's grassroots to be heard at all time, especially as the party is now facing great challenges.

Johor UMNO Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said as an open party, UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) would not issue any gag order on anyone who wanted to voice out their opinions.

"I believe that we all have our own opinion and want to voice it out.

"In fact, as an open party, we will not stop anyone from saying anything...we'll keep an open attitude," he told reporters after signing the agreement for the cooperation to develop technical and vocational skill training hub in the district.

Mohamed Khaled, who is also Johor Menteri Besar, said this in response to the political challenges faced by UMNO and BN government, especially concerning the 1Malaysia Development Berhad issue.

Yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, when closing the Cheras UMNO delegates meeting, urged the government to take steps to resolve the controversies surrounding the 1MDB before it became a burden to UMNO, which is the backbone of the government. --Bernama
