PUTRAJAYA: Umno state liaison chiefs attended a special closed-door briefing chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today.
An Umno source said the meeting touched on current political issues, including the dismissal of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin from the cabinet.
"We discussed about many things and we were given explanations as to why Muhyiddin was removed.
"The meeting went smoothly," said the source.
The meeting was held at Najib's official residence at Seri Perdana Complex here, and began at about 5.30pm.
The source said Najib, who is also Umno president, called upon party leaders to unite and work to improve the public's perception towards the party.
The briefing comes following the cancellation of the Umno Supreme Council meeting which was supposed to be held today.
A closed-door briefing on current issues to party leaders and a Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, also scheduled for today had also been cancelled.
